Events on Kinema are live events which means, like a usual theater showing, films will begin at the start time and if a ticket-holder misses the event they are not able to watch it after, unless they purchase a ticket to another event.

If you are hosting a virtual event and would like to make the film available to your event attendees post-event, you will need to license an on-demand screening to go along with your original event. You can include a link to a talkback or Q&A if you decide to host one using our Live Broadcast feature. In order to offer this to your attendees, the film you are showing must have on-demand available. Hosts should not imply the film will be available after their live event unless they have followed these steps and have their two-part watch back event approved by a Kinema representative.

How to Create a Watch-Back Event:

Once you've created your original live virtual event:

  1. Create an additional licensed on-demand event for the film with the date range being the number of days or weeks that you'd like to offer it. You will need to pay an additional license fee as you are essentially creating two events.

  2. Make sure you make the new supplemental on-demand event is private so you can only offer it to those who have already purchased tickets.

  3. Add a clear description that relates the on-demand event back to the virtual screening.

  4. Once that supplemental event has been approved by us you can go in and edit it if you'd like, but it won't need to be published until the live virtual event has ended.

  5. Once the supplemental event has been approved, add a link to the on-demand event in the description of the original event with clear instructions. Here is how to edit and manage your virtual screening event page.

  6. If you would like to host a Q&A or talkback in the event or are utilizing our Live Broadcast feature ensure this is turned on through the platform:

    1. In the management page for the live event - ensure you check the box under your event management page indicating that broadcast recording is turned on. This way you can request the panel recording after the event.

After your live event has passed:

  1. After the live event has ended, export your attendee email list and let them know that they will have access to view the film on-demand. Include the date range it will be available, the on-demand event page, and instructions that they will need to register for tickets again on the new page.

  2. Send us an email at hello@Kinema.com to request the download of the broadcast from us and it will be delivered in 1-2 business days.

  3. Once we have delivered the download of the broadcast panel, upload it to your choice of video platform such as Vimeo or Youtube.

  4. In the on-demand supplemental event that you created, add the link to the broadcast on Vimeo/Youtube so that folks can access it easily.

For attendees - If the screening you are attending is not created as a two-part watch back event by the host, you will not be able to watch the film if you have missed the live event. Please note that tickets are nonrefundable if you have missed your screening.
