We care about making Kinema accessible to everyone. As a new company, we're actively growing and adding new features. If you have a request or recommendation for us, please email hello[at]kinema.com.

Subtitles & Closed Captions

Subtitles show dialogue as text so you can read it on your screen. Closed captions provide further details on the sounds occurring within the film. We ask every content owner with a film on Kinema to provide Closed Captions. However, not everyone is able to do so. If the film you are watching does not have Closed Captions, check out these tools to help generate live captioning.

Audio Descriptions

Audio descriptions are audio files that play in sync with the film and provide more detail about what's happening on screen. This can include scenery, facial expressions, and physical actions.

At this time, we are not able to provide the option to turn on Audio Descriptions for films on Kinema. However, some filmmakers do have a version of the film with Audio Descriptions baked into the film. If you're looking for a specific film, please email us at hello[at]kinema.com and we will connect with the filmmaker.

Additional Functions

Your computer or mobile device can provide additional accessibility. Most of these can be updated directly in the settings of your computer, tablet or mobile devices.

  • Brightness Controls

  • Font Size Controls

  • Voice Command Options

Alternative Languages

We encourage content owners with films on Kinema to provide as many languages as possible for their subtitles. Oftentimes times filmmakers and their distributors are limited in their budget for the number of alternative languages they can provide.
