Videos: Intro to the Offline Cinema Player

How to access the film:

We’ve created the Offline Cinema Player so you can play your movie with no internet connection and no worries about spotty Wi-Fi messing up your event!

However, you will need an internet connection before your event, in order to download the film file, so plan accordingly. The Google Chrome browser on a desktop or laptop computer is required when using the Offline Player.

After you book your screening and it has been approved, you will receive an email from Kinema. In the email, you’ll get a link to the Manage Events page where you can manage your screening.

Click on Offline Cinema Player. You will be directed to the Offline Cinema Player - first you’ll be required to sign in with your Kinema username and password. Once signed in you’re ready to get started!

You'll be greeted with a pop-up reminder to help things run smoothly.

  • Check your browser compatibility

  • Make sure you have enough computer space for the film file to download

  • Clear your cache if you have issues

You’ll see your Film Title listed (as well as a Sample Screening)

  • Your film will be available to download 72 hours before your event. We know you’re excited to test things out so we’ve provided a Sample Screening for you to test with now. Just press play on the Sample Screening to test it out!

Once your film is available to download your player will look like this

  • Download your film by clicking on the Download Icon - this might take some time depending on the speed of your internet connection

Note: Some common issues when downloading your film:

  • Internet connection is super slow so it takes forever! Try not to use public WiFi and turn off all other applications

  • Your hard drive doesn’t have enough space for the film. Unfortunately in this situation you'll need to free up some space and/or use another computer but you'll need to sign into your Kinema account again.

  • Sometimes you'll need to clear your cache and/or sign out of your Kinema account and the sign back in.

You’ll know when your film has been downloaded when it says Ready to Play

Now that you’ve downloaded the film, it’s available to play even with NO Internet connection! And if you close your browser, your film will still be available (without downloading again). Just access the Offline Cinema Player (and your film) here.

Important Note:

  • To keep things secure, your film will have a Privacy Watermark until the day of your screening - don’t worry it magically disappears just in time for the big day (24 hours before the event)!

  • You might need to refresh your browser if you've downloaded the film and then go back to your browser to get rid of the watermark.

  • At this time you can't screencast or mirror with the offline player (you must plug in with an HDMI cable.)

After you've clicked play you can enter full screen by clicking on the square.

To turn on Closed Captions or Subtitles (if they are available) you just click on the settings icon and select.

Next let’s gather equipment for the day of the event:

  • Computer with Google Chrome Browser

  • TV, projector, screen or white surface - think wall, sheet (whatever you will be showing the movie on!)

  • Cord that connects your computer to TV (you know that connector thingy AKA HDMI Cable)
