Live Text Chat

Kinema's Live Virtual cinema enables all registered and attending audience members to participate in a live text conversation before, during and after the film.

Audiences can draft text messages and emojis into the text box, then post their message for the entire audience to read.

The text chat is live in every Virtual Cinema. Audience can choose to not participate by refraining from posting. They can also refrain from viewing or reading by expanding the video player to be full screen.

Text chat is available from when the Virtual Cinema opens, which is 30 minutes in advance of the film start time, to the end of the film or live stream conversation.

Chat Moderation

The host of the event has the ability to delete a comment in the chat or ban the user from using the chat for the duration of the screening.

To do so, click the name of the person in the chat and you will be given those two options: "Delete Message" and "Ban User"

"Delete Message" will remove their message from the feed for everyone, but the User can still participate in posting new messages.

"Ban User" will prevent the audience member from using the chat feature and posting new messages. It will not kick them out of the Virtual Cinema.

As the organizer of the event, moderating the chat room is at your discretion, as well as your responsibility. All Virtual Cinemas have a wordfilter installed, which automatically scans users' posts or comments as they are submitted and automatically censors particular words or phrases that are intentionally offensive and vulgar.
